Sudowrite is a writing app aimed at fiction authors, with its own fiction models (Muse and Ballad) plus 30-plus other models. Its pricing page (29 Sep 2026, USD) shows three plans: Hobby & Student at $10 a month with 225,000 credits, Professional at $22 with 1,000,000, and Max at $44 with 2,000,000. Sudowrite’s own cost article settles the billing basis: those are the annual-billing prices, and monthly billing is $19, $29 and $59. The page offers a free trial without a credit card. Professional is the step where developmental edits, line edits and beta reads appear.

Plans

PlanAnnual billing, per monthMonthly billingCredits a monthExtra features listed
Hobby & Student$10$19225,000Write, Rewrite, Describe, Expand, style matching, continuity, chat, Muse and Ballad models
Professional$22$291,000,000 (the page also prints 450,000 in smaller type beside a “2X as much!” badge)Adds developmental edits, line edits and beta reads
Max$44$592,000,000Same as Professional; unused credits roll over for 12 months

The pricing page has a Monthly and Yearly switch (“up to 50% off”), but the displayed prices did not change when we switched it; the annual and monthly figures above come from Sudowrite’s own article on the cost of writing a novel with AI, which lists $10 / $22 / $44 annual against $19 / $29 / $59 monthly and 1,000,000 credits for Professional. The page’s on-screen 450,000 figure looks like the pre-promotion allowance, but that is our reading, not the page’s wording.

Dollars per million credits, our arithmetic

PlanAnnual billingMonthly billing
Hobby & Student$44.44$84.44
Professional (1,000,000)$22.00$29.00
Max$22.00$29.50

Professional gives the same price per credit as Max on annual billing, and Max’s edge is volume and the 12-month rollover.

Who it suits, who should skip

  • Suits novelists and screenwriters who want an assistant that keeps continuity across a series and gives structured feedback.
  • Suits Hobby & Student for casual or school writing.
  • Skip if you want a general assistant: ChatGPT or Claude cover more than fiction. Skip Max unless you exhaust Professional.

What this page cannot tell you

Prose quality, and how many credits a chapter uses, are not on the pricing page and we have not judged them. Earlier text called it the best AI for fiction and praised its narrative craft; we could not source either.

Method

Researched from Sudowrite’s pricing page, read 29 Sep 2026 in a browser session. USD as displayed. Dollars per credit is our arithmetic. Nothing here comes from using the product.

Update log

  1. Rewritten from Sudowrite's pricing page: removed 'best AI for fiction writers', 'Wormhole breaks creative blocks' and 'understands narrative craft' and the old table; added the three plans, credit pools, dollars per million credits and the features gated to Professional and Max.
  2. Audit: annual versus monthly prices settled from Sudowrite's own cost article ($10/$22/$44 annual, $19/$29/$59 monthly); Professional credits 1,000,000.
