n8n charges for full workflow executions, not for each step or user. On 29 Sep 2026 its pricing page (in euros, annual billing) showed Free at EUR 0 for 50 executions, Starter at EUR 20 a month for 2,500, Pro at EUR 50 for 10,000 and Business at EUR 667 for 40,000; billed monthly the same plans are EUR 24, EUR 60 and EUR 800. Every plan includes unlimited workflows and all integrations. Pro is the cheapest per run. Choose n8n if your automations have many steps; skip it if you want a hosted plan above 10,000 runs without paying for Business, which the page marks as self-hosted only.

The page’s toggle reads “Annually (Save 17%)”. Billed monthly it shows Starter EUR 24, Pro EUR 60 and Business EUR 800 (EUR 9.60, 6.00 and 20.00 per 1,000 runs on our arithmetic). The page showed euros only; we found no dollar edition. Cost per 1,000 runs is our arithmetic.

What counts as an execution

n8n says it counts a workflow that runs from start to finish once, however many steps it has. A 20-step workflow therefore costs the same as a 2-step one, unlike tools that meter each step. That is the reason to compare it with Make and Zapier by your own step counts; see the Make vs Zapier guide.

Self-hosting

The page lists a “Community Edition”, a standard self-hosted version on GitHub, and says Business and Enterprise can be self-hosted. It does not spell out the licence terms in the text we read, so check the licence before relying on the free edition commercially. Custom nodes and running bash scripts are shown as available only when self-hosted.

Who it suits, who should skip

  • Suits developers and technical teams: the page lists JavaScript and Python code steps, HTTP and GraphQL requests, webhooks and an API on cloud plans.
  • Suits anyone with long, multi-step workflows on Pro.
  • Skip if you want no-code simplicity and a large template shelf; compare Make or Zapier.
  • Skip the Free plan for real use: 50 executions with one user is a trial.
  • Related: Gumloop and Lindy for AI-agent-first automation.

What this page cannot tell you

Integration quality, reliability and the effort of maintaining a self-hosted instance are not on a pricing page, and we have not assessed them. The number of integrations is not stated in the text we read, so we quote none.

Method

Researched from n8n’s pricing page, read 29 Sep 2026 in a browser session (euro prices as displayed). Nothing here comes from using the product.

Update log

  1. Rewritten from n8n's pricing page: removed 'most powerful', the unsourced integration counts and VPS cost, the invented lead-enrichment workflow and the 2026-06 price table (Starter no longer limited to 5 active workflows); added euro plan table, cost per 1,000 executions and limits.
