AI visibility tools track whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Google’s AI answers and similar systems mention your brand, and they all sell the same unit: prompts tracked. On the vendors’ own pages the cheapest per prompt is Frase, at about $0.48 to $0.78 a prompt a month on annual billing, but its allowance includes articles, and the tools differ in which AI engines they check. Dedicated trackers (Otterly, Peec) cost about €1.20 to €1.93 a prompt. Pick by how many prompts you need and which engines you need covered. The order of the picks below follows three stated criteria, in this order: price per tracked prompt on the billing period shown, engines the plan covers, and what else is bundled. There is no score and no test result behind it.
Cost per tracked prompt
“Prompt” here means a question the tool puts to the AI systems on a schedule; several vendors state daily tracking, and where a page says so the table says “daily”. Our division: monthly price divided by prompts, on the billing period shown. Currencies are not converted.
| Tool and plan | Price | Prompts tracked | Per prompt a month | What else is in the plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frase Starter | $39 annual ($49 monthly) | 50 | $0.78 | 10 articles, 50 audit pages |
| Frase Professional | $103 annual ($129) | 200 | $0.52 | 40 articles |
| Frase Scale | $239 annual ($299) | 500 | $0.48 | 100 articles |
| Writesonic Starter | $79 annual ($99) | 50 daily | $1.58 | 15 AI articles, 10 site audits |
| Writesonic Basic | $199 annual ($249) | 100 daily | $1.99 | 25 articles, 2 users |
| Writesonic Growth | $399 annual ($499) | 200 daily | $2.00 | 50 articles, 3 users |
| Surfer AI Search Analytics | $82 annual ($95) (currency label varies, see below) | 50 daily | $1.64 | 5 brand spaces, no documents |
| Clearscope Essentials | $129 | 50 tracked queries | $2.58 | 50 pages, unlimited users |
| Clearscope Business | $399 | 300 tracked queries | $1.33 | 300 pages |

Semrush’s figures include the SEO suite, so its per-prompt cost overstates the price of tracking alone.
Why the per-prompt figure is not a verdict
Three things differ that the price does not show:
- Engines covered. Otterly’s plans track four engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot) and list Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as extra add-ons. Peec tracks three models you choose. Frase lists ChatGPT and Google’s AI answers on Starter, adding Perplexity on Professional and Claude and Gemini on Scale. Clearscope lists ChatGPT and Gemini.
- What a prompt is. Some vendors multiply prompts by engines and frequency; Peec says its monthly answers are prompts times active models times frequency. A “prompt” on a three-engine plan is three checks.
- What is bundled. Frase, Writesonic and Semrush bundle writing or SEO. Otterly and Peec sell tracking alone.
None of the pages says how many samples make a stable result, so treat a visibility figure as a sample, not a rank. For the limits of measurement, see the vendors’ own method notes before relying on a percentage.
Pick by need
| You need | Look first at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tracking plus articles from one tool on a budget | Frase | Lowest price per prompt in the table, with articles included |
| Tracking as a feature of a content-scoring tool you already use | Surfer or Clearscope | Add-on or built-in query tracking |
| To track your brand across AI systems with reporting to clients | Otterly or Peec | Tracking-only products with multi-country and integrations |
| A reworked SEO stack that also watches AI answers | Semrush | AI visibility inside its SEO plans |
| A content team measured on AI mentions | Writesonic | Positions itself around AI search visibility, with articles attached |
Regional pricing
Otterly, Peec and Semrush showed euro prices in the browser session used, which connects from the Netherlands, so those are the prices for that region. Plans in other regions can be shown in other currencies or at other figures, as Synthesia’s page did when we read it in dollars and euros (see Synthesia against HeyGen). Check the price at checkout. Surfer’s own page carried a euro label on the same numbers ($82 and $95) when read from the Netherlands, so treat its figures as list prices whose currency label depends on the visitor’s location. Writesonic counts prompts and, separately, answers tracked daily (for example 100 prompts and 300 answers on Basic); the table uses prompts. Its monthly prices ($99, $249, $499) are implied by the “Save $240, $600, $1,200 a year” figures on the annual view, not read from a monthly toggle. Otterly advertises 15% off for annual billing; the figures shown did not change when we switched the toggle, so we quote them as displayed.
What this page cannot tell you
How accurate any tool’s tracking is, and whether appearing in AI answers moves traffic or sales, are not on pricing pages, and we have not assessed them. Independent, named evaluations are the right source. Method
Researched from each vendor’s pricing page on 29 Sep 2026. USD figures come from the site’s pricing dataset (Frase, Writesonic, Surfer, Clearscope); euro figures were read in a browser session. Per-prompt figures are our division and assume the whole allowance is used. Nothing here comes from using the products.
