Luma Dream Machine review

Luma now sells credits, not generation counts. Its pricing page (read 29 Sep 2026, USD) lists Plus at $30 a month with 10,000 credits, Pro at $90 with 40,000 and Ultra at $300 with 150,000; billed yearly the page shows $25, $75 and $250 a month. The cost of a clip depends mostly on which model you pick: a five-second 720p clip is about $0.30 on Luma’s own Ray3.2 and about $4.20 on Veo 3.1 with audio. The page lists no free plan.

Credits per five-second clip, and what that costs

Credit prices from the page’s cost table (text-to-video and image-to-video, with audio where noted). Dollar figures are our arithmetic on Plus at $30 for 10,000 credits, $0.003 a credit; yearly billing at $25 is $0.0025.

Model, 720pCredits per secondCredits per 5 sClips per 10,000 creditsCost per 5 s clip (Plus monthly)

At 1080p Ray3.2 is 400 credits for five seconds (25 clips, $1.20); the page also prices 4K on Seedance 2.0 and Kling. Draft mode is cheapest, at 20 credits per five seconds.

Who it suits, who should skip

  • Suits people who want several video models under one credit balance and commercial use from the entry plan.
  • Skip if you want a free plan to try: the page shows none, and earlier versions of this review described one.
  • Skip Veo through Luma if Veo is your main model: 1,400 credits a clip is 14 times Ray3.2’s 100 at 720p; compare direct Veo prices.
  • Compare per-clip cost against Runway and Kling; Sora alternatives has more per-clip arithmetic.

What this page cannot tell you

Motion quality, prompt adherence and how many attempts a usable clip takes are not on a pricing page, and we have not assessed them. Earlier text calling Luma the best for camera motion could not be sourced and was removed. Failed or discarded generations still spend credits, so real cost per keeper is higher than the figures above.

Method

Researched from Luma’s pricing page, read 29 Sep 2026 in a browser session with the monthly and yearly toggles both set for Plus and Pro. Nothing here comes from using the product.

Update log

  1. Rewritten from Luma's pricing page with both billing toggles read: removed the 'best camera motion' claim, the invented product-video workflow and the old 30-generation Free and 150-generation Plus table (the page now sells credits and lists no free plan); added plan ladder, credits per clip on each model and our cost-per-clip arithmetic.
